Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden’s swing through Texas includes a Dallas fundraiser hosted by some of the most prominent trial lawyers and political donors in the state.
On Wednesday, the former vice president will have lunch at a Dallas home for an event hosted by Lisa Blue Baron, Dori and Russell Budd, Lisa and Peter Kraus, Majed Nachawati, John Driscoll and Wendy and Marc Stanley.
The event follows Biden’s trip to Houston on Tuesday, where Biden is taking part of an education town hall.
The Dallas fundraiser suggests some Texas donors are not fully behind former congressman Beto O’Rourke of El Paso and former San Antonio mayor and Housing Secretary Julian Castro for president.
O’Rourke thrilled Texas Democrats with his 2018 campaign against Republican incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz, a close contest that galvanized Democrats and led to victories down the ballot. But O’Rourke lost, finishing 2.6% behind Cruz. Months later he entered the crowded race for the Democratic nomination.
The El Paso Democrat had seen a bump in the polls, but Biden’s entry into the presidential race has seemed to negatively impact his candidacy and the rest of the large field.
Biden is also expected to have a public, education-related event.
