We’d love to be able to say there could be some snow this weekend but we can’t. Because there won’t be.
Well, not here. It’s almost certainly snowing somewhere. Probably several wheres, actually. But that’s not our concern.
No, the best we can offer you this weekend is a chilly rain on Saturday. And not the kind of rain that was snow, but turned into rain as you trudged through an almost empty grocery store parking lot on Christmas Eve while a guy wails out a sad saxophone solo. (Yes, my breakdown of “Same Old Lang Syne” will land on the website Sunday. Spoiler alert. Still not a Christmas song.) It’s just a normal chilly rain.
Highs will climb into the lower 50s on Saturday and be accompanied by what forecasters are calling a 100 percent chance of rain.
That means that one of two things will happen. It will definitely rain or it will definitely not rain. We’re pretty sure we can narrow it down to one of those two options. Anything else seems highly unlikely.
But despair not those who don’t like rain! For you shall inherit Sunday where it will be mostly sunny with temperatures rising into the middle 60s. Really, Sunday should be quite pleasant for those of you who like go to outside and roll around in the grass or stare fixedly at the sun. Whatever it is that outside people do while the rest of us draw the blinds and hiss when the door opens.
That sets the table for next week and 70s. Lots and lots of 70s. Like so 70s that if the week had a wardrobe it would have giant collars and gold medallions dangling in front of a shirt that should really be buttoned up all the way. The song about the week would be sung in falsetto. That 70s.
Thankfully, there appears to be a Christmas miracle on the horizon. And by Christmas miracle I mean a cold front on Friday, which as miracles go is kind of minor, but we’re going to take it.
How low will it go? Well, I wouldn’t expect snow. Let’s not go crazy.
But there are other miracles.
Yes, Virginia, you might not have to run your air conditioner on Christmas Day.
