Dallas-based law firm Strasburger & Price is merging with a Detroit law firm in a deal that will bring 650 lawyers under one nameplate.
The combined firm will be known as Clark Hill except in Texas, where it will operate as Clark Hill Strasburger. The merger is effective Wednesday.
Detroit-based Clark Hill is Michigan’s largest law firm, with more than 450 lawyers in 17 offices. Strasburger’s 200 lawyers work in nine offices in Texas, New York, Washington, D.C. and Mexico City.
“This merger aligns perfectly with our strategy of expanding into high growth markets, which is also where our clients are moving and where they need our services,” said Clark Hill CEO John Hern in a statement. He’ll lead the merged firms.
Clark Hill’s 2017 revenue totaled $193.6 million, while Strasburger brought in $93.8 million in 2017 and $93.7 million in 2016, Hern told Crain’s Detroit Business.
The expansion into Texas will give Clark Hill a presence in the state’s vibrant oil and gas, construction, retail and health care sectors.
