EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14) — Water went out at the Rogelio Sanchez State Jail in east El Paso around 2:45 p.m. Saturday, according to a spokesperson.
Workers have narrowed the issue down to an electrical problem. The spokesperson said a fuse is blown and they are working with Apache Energy to correct the problem.
There are 992 offenders affected by this outage, according to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, but they are providing bottled water and portable restrooms. The offenders are reportedly in good condition.
Officials also said that the Texas Emergency Management Agency and the National Guard are partnering to provide a 5,000 gallon water truck for the jail, as well.
Water is expected to be restored Saturday night, but they aren’t sure when, according to a spokesperson.
