In honor of the release of the latest film in the Star Wars saga—”Star Wars: The Last Jedi”— area businesses are encouraging local fans to celebrate with food and cocktail specials as well as family-friendly activities. Here is how you can celebrate the film’s release in South Austin this weekend:

Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas hosts weekend-long celebration
“Star Wars”-themed photo booths will be available in the lobby of each location throughout the weekend. The theater will also feature themed drinks and food. At the Slaughter Lane location, a no-cost family-friendly event will be held in the in-house 400 Rabbits bar to celebrate the movie’s heroes and villains. Themed crafts, activities and special guests will be part of the event. Costumes are encouraged. The event is open to all ages and does not require a movie ticket.

Try the special stacker at Cow Tipping Creamery
Cow Tipping Creamery will celebrate the release of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” with an ice cream special—Death Star by Chocolate Stacker. Customers can choose between black-ash soft serve or regular chocolate ice cream topped with brown sugar hot fudge, triple-fudge brownie chunks, cocoa cookie crumbs and a Death Star cookie. The special is only available this weekend.

Cane Rosso celebrates with “Star Wars”-themed pizza and cocktail specials
Patrons can enjoy a special brew by Dallas-based Noble Rey Brewing Company called Yub Nub, paired with a special C-3PO pizza featuring three cheeses: mozzarella, provolone and goat. Staff will be decked out in
“Star Wars” t-shirts and can expect a movie marathon as well. Special cocktails include:
Red 5- $9
The drink is named after “Red 5,” the X-Wing star fighter that Luke Skywalker piloted in the original “Star Wars” trilogy. The recipe calls for 1 ounce of Deep Eddy Ruby Red Vodka, .5 ounces of Aperol, 1 ounce of simple syrup, .5 ounces of lime juice and 1 ounce of Prosecco.
Cloud City- $9
The drink is named for the “Cloud City” of Bespin that appears in “The Empire Strikes Back.” The orange color of the drink and layered red wine gives the appearance of a colorful sunset. The recipe calls for 1 ounce of Old Forester Bourbon, .5 ounces of Rothman & Winter Pear Liqueur, 1 ounce of Aliseo Blood Orange Juice, 1 ounce of lemon juice, 1 ounce of simple syrup and a .5 ounce red wine float.

Play a round of “Star Wars” trivia
The Austin Winery will host a “Star Wars” trivia night that will not include questions about the the “Last Jedi” film. Guests can test their knowledge of the force while sipping on the winery’s handcrafted creations. Trivia is free to play. Prizes will be given for first, second and third place.
