Ronnie Dawson homered and had four hits, driving in two, and Corbin Martin allowed just four hits over six innings as the Corpus Christi Hooks beat the Springfield Cardinals 5-2 on Saturday.
Martin (7-2) allowed two runs while striking out eight and walking one to pick up the win.
After the teams traded runs, the Cardinals cut into the deficit in the sixth inning when Evan Mendoza scored on a wild pitch.
The Hooks tacked on another run in the eighth when Lorenzo Quintana hit an RBI double, scoring Chas McCormick.
Genesis Cabrera (0-1) went two innings, allowing three runs and four hits in the Texas League game. He also struck out four and walked two. Alex Winkelman recorded his fourth save of the season.
Andy Young doubled and singled for the Cardinals.
With the win, Corpus Christi improved to 6-2 against Springfield this season.
