“Of Mice & Music: A Jazz Tap Nutcracker.” Tapestry Dance Company is giving “The Nutcracker” a jazzy update, but there are only a couple days left to see the show. Expect a jazzed-up version of the original Tchaikovsky score and other beloved jazz classics, performed live by top local jazz musicians, including Masumi Jones on drums, Eddy Hobizal on piano and Michael Stevens on bass. In this version, Clara explores the world of dance when she is given tap shoes. 7:30 p.m. Saturday, 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. $23-$34. The Long Center, 701 W. Riverside Drive. thelongcenter.org.

The night ball will have booze. Getting fancy in your dress robes is encouraged but not required. 3 to 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. to midnight Saturday. $5-$25. Aviator Pizza’s One Year Anniversary. The pizzeria on South Congress Avenue (far south, mind you) is hosting an anniversary deal that beer lovers won’t be able to pass up — free beer. Starting at 3 p.m., the staff is giving away 20 pints of Revolver Brewing’s Harvey Relief Golden Ale, the profits of which Revolver is donating entirely to Hurricane Harvey relief funding. Since there will only be 20 free pints, Aviator recommends arriving promptly. 3 p.m. Saturday. 6501 S. Congress Ave. aviatorpizza.com.
