A fake sign asking people to donate bottle caps to help chemotherapy patients at El Paso Children’s Hospital went viral on social media over the weekend.
The sign, which was shared on Facebook and Twitter, asks people to donate bottle caps in order to help sponsor chemotherapy sessions for patients.
However, El Paso Children’s Hospital on Monday said the sign is a scam.
“El Paso Children’s Hospital Foundation and Dr. Yolanda Lagunas wish to convey that the representation made in this poster is not true,” El Paso Children’s Hospital said via Facebook.
“We value our partnerships with our community and hope to find the source of this poster so that if we are able to do this type of collection, that we follow the appropriate process.”
El Paso Children’s Hospital is asking anyone with information on the sign to call 525-0504.
