Two people died during Thursday’s freezing temperatures while trying to cross South Texas ranch land, according to the Border Patrol.
Members of a family trying to enter the U.S. called 911 early Thursday reporting they were lost on a ranch near the city of Eagle Pass, according to a news release from the Border Patrol. By the time agents arrived, one of the three had already died.
The man’s name, age and country of origin were not available Friday evening. The family had become separated from another group of undocumented immigrants, according to the Border Patrol. Agents arrested 14 more people nearby.
A second man died Thursday on a ranch near Kingsville, according to Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley. Agents attempted to perform CPR on the man, who they couldn’t identify but was found in an area used by undocumented immigrants trying to circumvent a nearby checkpoint, according to the Border Patrol.
The same day, agents near Falfurrias found an unidentified body.
