A 9-year-old girl in Cibilo has a unique wish for Christmas this year.
“I think he’s going to like my letter,” said 4th grader Lauren Dobbins.
Every year, Lauren writes a Christmas letter addressed to the north pole, but this time it’s a little different.
“Since I’m older now, I think that I can come up with better ideas,” Lauren told us.
Instead of toys or candy, Lauren wants something you can’t exactly place under a Christmas tree.
“Dear Santa, my present that I want is something that will help raise money for the poor,” Lauren read. “I just want a little cafe house, with a chalkboard menu, and a mini drive-thru. I will sell hot cocoa, cookies, and body essentials. The money I am earning is for the poor.”
The young girl is hoping for a café stand, so she can start her own business.
“I’m going to name my shop Lauren’s Helping Hands,” Lauren told us. “This is my first time doing this. I’ve always wanted to do something for others, but sometimes I can’t come up with good ideas.”
Lauren’s parents posted their daughter’s letter to Santa on Facebook. Since their post earlier this week, many people have come forward willing to help Santa deliver the gift.
“He said he was going to make it happen,” said Kinjatta Dobbins Lauren’s mother. “We believe in Santa in this house.”
“I think Santa definitely has a TV and satellite,” said Keith Dobbins Lauren’s father. “He’s definitely watching, I just hope that any other kids out there that have a desire to do something beyond themselves, that this will be something that gets them in action,”
With Christmas now just 10 days away, Lauren has one last message for Santa.
“I can’t wait to get my present,” said Lauren as if speaking to Santa. “I hope I get my present from you this year for Christmas.”
